2006 Scholarship
Awarded to
Western WY Student
The Wyoming Chapter of the Soil and Water Conservation
Society recently awarded its annual scholarship of $500.00. This year’s
winner was Noriko Nozumi of Western Wyoming Community College. Ms. Nozumi
is currently majoring in Environmental Science with plans to attend the
University of Wyoming next fall to continue her education. Ms. Nozumi has
achieved a 3.89 Grade Point Average in her two years at Western Wyoming.
This is particularly impressive if you consider that English is not her
first language. Ms. Nozumi is from Japan and attended Tokyo Metropolitan
Komaba High School. She has adjusted extremely well in her move from Tokyo
to Rock Springs, considering the subtle cultural differences between the two
communities!
The Chapter awards the scholarship for the spring
semester each year. To be eligible, students must have successfully
completed one year of study at an accredited school in Wyoming, have a
cumulative GPA of at least 2.5, be enrolled in a natural resource
conservation related field and show a reasonable need for financial
assistance. Please inform any eligible students you know of this
opportunity as we are always looking for as many applications as possible.
